At your consultation appointment for your facelift, your plastic surgeon Dr. Howarth will answer any questions you have about the facelift procedure. Following your exam with Dr. Howarth, you will meet our financial coordinator who will answer your financial questions, including how much a facelift costs. Your facelift consultation with Dr. Howarth is your one-on-one opportunity to learn if you are a good candidate for a facelift. During the consultation, Dr. Howarth will conduct a physical examination of your face and discuss your concerns and reasons for a facelift.
What should I expect during the facelift surgery?
On the day of your facelift surgery, Dr. Howarth will review with you your surgical plan and answer any last minute questions that you have. Your surgery will take place at our surgery center, the Paradise Valley Cosmetic Surgery Center, which is located adjacent to our office. A facelift is an invasive surgical procedure that takes place under general anesthesia.
Depending on the surgical plan and surgeon’s recommendation, you may spend the night at our comfortable on-suite overnight recovery area. This is an area with 24-hour supervised nursing care to monitor your initial recovery after surgery.
Will I see my facelift scars?
The scars from the incisions of your facelift will be camouflaged behind your ears on your hairline. By following our scar care instructions, your scars will fade over time or may disappear almost entirely.
What is recovery like after a facelift Scottsdale?
Recovery from a facelift takes time, and each patient experiences the recovery period differently. Dr. Howarth provides each patient with a personalized post-operative pain management protocol to minimize discomfort in the days following the procedure.
Swelling and bruising is to be expected, and some patients can look worse than they feel for the first few weeks. After about 2 weeks, we recommend that patients return to normal daily activities. Camouflage makeup may be applied to conceal any bruising.
Most patients are given a chin compression strap after facelift surgery to minimize swelling for the one to two weeks following the surgery.
You will be given post-operative appointments to return to our office as needed for drain removal or suture removal as required.
