Breast Augmentation in Scottsdale
As a top board-certified female plastic surgeon for breast augmentation in Scottsdale, Dr. Ashley Howarth is sought after for her beautiful breast augmentation results. Breast augmentation is the most performed procedure by plastic surgeons according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and it is one of Dr. Howarth’s areas of specialty in her boutique plastic surgery practice in Scottsdale.
What is a Breast Augmentation?
Many women seek a plastic surgeon for a breast augmentation in Scottsdale due to a lack of volume in their breasts. Breasts can lack volume due to pregnancy, weight loss, aging, or genetics. Some patients may be unhappy with their breasts’ current shape, size, or positioning.
A breast augmentation increases or restores volume in the breast by the placement of breast implants. Many women find an enhanced feeling of self-confidence by improving the size or shape of their breasts with breast implants. A patient may seek a plastic surgeon for breast augmentation due to:
- Asymmetrical breasts
- Breasts smaller than desired
- Correction of tubular or tuberous breasts
- Changes due to pregnancy and nursing
- Weight loss

Confidence Begins Here
Breast augmentation in Scottsdale is one of the most popular procedures chosen by women seeking to enhance their natural shape with subtle, sophisticated results. Whether you’re looking to restore volume after pregnancy, create more balanced proportions, or simply feel more confident in your own skin, breast augmentation offers a customizable solution. At our Scottsdale practice, we prioritize refined outcomes that complement your individual anatomy and aesthetic goals.
Choosing breast augmentation in Scottsdale means access to world-class care in a setting that values elegance, safety, and personalization. Each procedure begins with an in-depth consultation, where your surgeon will listen to your goals and walk you through implant types, sizes, and placement options. From silicone gel to saline, from natural teardrop to round contours, every decision is tailored to you—because we believe beauty is not one-size-fits-all.
Scottsdale is home to women who appreciate both artistry and innovation, and our breast augmentation approach reflects that. Using advanced surgical techniques and a deep understanding of proportion and harmony, we create outcomes that feel beautifully you—not overly done or trend-driven. Our patients often share that their results feel like an enhancement of their true self, not a departure from it.
Types of Breast Implants
Saline Breast Implants
All shells of breast implants are made of silicone, however a saline breast implant is filled with saline. In the event of saline implant rupture, the implant will deflate and the saline is absorbed by the body. A saline implant is placed unfilled with a smaller incision, leading to a smaller scar, and then is filled or inflated with saline after placement. Saline implants thus allow for a higher volume of augmentation when needed.
Silicone Breast Implants
Unlike saline implants which are filled or inflated during placement, silicone implants are pre-filled to a certain shape and size. The silicone filling more closely mimics the natural feel of breast tissue, and silicone implants are known for their more natural look and feel than saline implants. Silicone implants come in a variety of options, including textured or smooth, and round or teardrop (anatomic) shape. Dr. Howarth will discuss which of these options will be best for your results.
Gummy Bear Implants
Some patients have heard of “Gummy Bear Implants” which are a type of silicone implant that are more stable in their form and shape. Gummy bear implants, also known as form stable implants, are designed to maintain their shape and position, but may be firmer than other silicone options. Selecting the best choice for your breast implant is an important part of the consultation process that you will have with Dr. Howarth.
Auto-Augmentation with Fat Grafting
For patients seeking augmented breasts without the placement of implants, auto-augmentation with fat grafting is a great option for natural results using your own fatty tissue. In this procedure, fat is harvested from other areas of the body using liposuction, and is transplanted to the breast. Depending on the patient, an auto-augmentation combined with a breast lift may provide an ideal result without the placement of an implant.

A breast augmentation candidate must:

Maintaining proper expectations are important for any cosmetic procedure, especially for a breast augmentation. Discussing your expectations is an important part of your consultation appointment.
What should I expect during my breast augmentation?
Your breast augmentation procedure is typically a single-day outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia at one of the state-of-the-art surgery centers where Dr. Howarth has privileges. These centers are chosen for their excellent care and convenient locations. For more details, visit our Surgery Centers page.
During the procedure, Dr. Howarth will follow the surgical plan that she discussed with you during your consultation. Depending on your surgical plan, the incision for your breast augmentation will be either around the nipple (periareolar) or in the fold below the breast (inframmary).
Dr. Howarth utilizes a surgical approach to minimize scarring. Generally scars become less visible over time when care instructions are closely followed by patients.

Redefining Your Silhouette
Selecting a Plastic Surgeon with a Commitment to Excellence
Dr. Ashley Howarth has established herself as one of Scottsdale’s top plastic surgeons for mastopexy or breast lift surgery. Having trained at the Mayo Clinic, she has an obsession with detail and technical expertise that sets her apart. As a mother herself, she understands the changes that occur to women’s breasts and the frustration women can feel with their bodies.
During her consultation with you, Dr. Howarth will examine your breasts and body, and discuss your goals and concerns. Depending on your desired goals, Dr. Howarth may make additional cosmetic recommendations to leave your breasts looking their best. Additional options at the time of a breast lift include breast augmentation with implants or auto-augmentation with fat grafting. Additionally, a breast lift may be a part of the Mommy Makeover procedure for which Dr. Howarth is most well known.
Selecting a Plastic Surgeon with a Commitment to Excellence
While some patients choose both a breast lift and a breast augmentation with implants, both procedures are not always required. The determination is based on the amount of skin and volume of existing breast tissue, the surgeon’s recommendation after a thorough consultation, and most importantly, a patient’s preference.
Saggy breasts, or breast ptosis, occur due to excess skin around the breast and not enough breast volume. Breast ptosis is categorized by the level of the nipple in relationship to the breast. Depending on the degree of sagging and desired goal appearance, Dr. Howarth will recommend a breast lift alone or in combination with either implant augmentation or a fat graft auto-augmentation.
